You scroll through Pinterest, fall in love with a dozen styles, save them all — and yet, when it’s time to actually bring your dream space to life, nothing seems to fit quite right.

We live in an age where design is at our fingertips. AI can now generate stunning visuals within seconds — images that look so real you can almost step into them. In fact, many designers (myself included!) use AI as a tool to help clients visualize the possibilities of their space.

Even furniture brands, paint companies, and sanitaryware showrooms have started offering “design consultations” to their walk-ins.

So, the real questions that loom large are:

1.     Why do I need an Interior Designer?

2.     What more can a designer bring to the table that I don’t already have free access to?

Let’s Flip the Question

Before I answer that, let me ask you a few things:

  • Once you have a beautiful AI-generated room, can you find alternative fabrics,

finishes, and materials that actually exist in your city — and fit your budget?

  • Can that render tell you how light will move through your home at 4 PM on a sunny Mumbai afternoon?

  • Do you have the time to coordinate with contractors, electricians, carpenters, and suppliers — and ensure they’re all working in sync?

  • Can a virtual model guide you through texture, proportion, and ergonomics, so your space isn’t just pretty, but practical?

  • And finally — does that AI render offer you a personal connection — someone who listens, adapts, and translates your dream into reality?

What AI Can’t Do?

I can generate visuals, but it can’t sense ambience. It doesn’t understand scale, light, or emotion. It doesn’t know what home feels like to you.

Design isn’t only about arranging furniture — it’s about creating harmony. It’s knowing when to add restraint, when to let materials breathe, and when to add that one unexpected element that makes the space uniquely yours.

What an Interior Designer Truly Brings?

A good designer is part artist, part engineer, and part therapist! Here’s what we actually do behind the scenes:

·        Concept to Completion: Translating a vague idea into a tangible, finished space.

·        Spatial Planning: Balancing aesthetics with function, flow, and comfort.

·        Material Knowledge: Understanding what works — from Indian humidity to daily wear and tear.

·        Lighting Design: Layering mood, accent, and task lighting to create depth and warmth.

·        Budget & Timeline Management: Coordinating vendors, preventing costly mistakes, and keeping your sanity intact.

·        Personalization: Designing a space that feels like you — not a Pinterest board.

The Human Touch

Every project begins with a dream — a moodboard, a few photos, sometimes just a feeling. Our role as designers is to understand you — your lifestyle, your habits, your inspirations — and then craft a space that tells your story.

A well-designed space doesn’t shout; it speaks. It makes you pause, breathe, and feel — “Yes, this is home.”

The Essere Philosophy

At Essere Designs, we don’t just style spaces — we design stories. We believe great design begins with understanding — of light, texture, and the people who inhabit the space.

Your home should be a reflection of who you are — calm, layered, and authentic. And that’s where Essere — meaning to be — truly begins.
